Rest in peace IE 13.06.2003
No more development on IE for mac. I reckon they realised the alternatives were so good there were no use competing. [via tantek]. Too bad really, I would think that IE with a minor bit of development would be able to compete with the rest of the browser pack. Could it be Safari showing its teeth again, or is it just the latest Mozilla build grinding away?
UPDATE: I am terribly disappointed, that no one has pointed out to me, that I didn't comment on the case of MS dropping the standalone version of IE for PC. Sheesh, If web standards and consumers had a rough time before, how will it be now?

It will be as it is and has been for quite some time now.
Microsoft got away with the lie about Internet Explorer being an essential part of Windows and that it would be a bad idea to let users choose for themselves.
The result is a browser market that is dead. A few players trying to make things move forward and create better software ... apparently in vain. The lock Microsoft has put on the browser-market seems to work just fine in stopping any natrual development of browsers.

You just lost me there. As I see it, we now have more browsers than ever, with a lot of them in ongoing development. Mozilla, Safara, Konqueror, Opera, to name the biggest players.
