Things do connect 08.09.2002
At the IT-C I am taking a course in "Interaction Design", quite obviously because my degree is named "Design, communication and media". I had gathered that it would be about designing visual wizardry to be displayed on browsers all over the web, and, well, I was right. What I hadn't figured out, was that the techniques and methods are almost exactly the same as the ones I have been equipped with during a course on field work and scientifical research design in developmental geography. It kind of took me by surprise.
Instead of juggling double hermeneutical problems associated with interviewing locals about their livelihood strategy in rural Nepal mediated by an interpretor, we get to do sketches, and I have come to the conclusion, that I totally blow at drawing with a pencil. I was much better at scientific research design.
